Upward

These are pictures from last weeks Upward games. I didn't even bother to take my camera today because I had Easton in tow. Peyton's team won last week, and this week they tied, they have a good little team. Braxton's team had the same score 2 weeks in a row 25-14, they lost both games. James said if they would give Braxton's team an IQ test they would blow all the other teams out of the water! They are all such sweet smart boys, but are having a rough little start in basketball! Braxton did sink a "nothing but net" shot today and was SO excited. Peyton scored 14 points this week and was stressed out the whole game because it was so close, but I told him a tie is better than a loss! My boys couldn't be any more different if they tried! Easton was pretty good for the first game, but by the second game he was running out on the court and dancing! Peyton said "I'm so glad no one knows he is my brother". I hated to tell him that most people knew exactly who he was related to. After all that dancing Easton took a long nap and the big boys went to play at Memaw and Papa's house.

It was a nice day overall I really can't complain about my life and am thankful that I have a healthy 2 year old dancing out on the basketball court. Now I am off to iron the kids clothes for church tomorrow and praying for a lot of families in our community that are suffering with illness and loss. I read this verse tonight which I have read a million times, but it is so true when things just don't make sense: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Back in the real world!

Today was the first day in over a week for me and Easton to get out of the house and get back into our normal routine. He was so excited to go back to school, which is very shocking to me, but also makes me happy. He has talked all about his day today: he said "I go treehouse room and climb on table", pretty sure he got in trouble for that. "I fall off table in treehouse room", doesn't surprise me at all. "I play Jax, Pooper (aka Cooper), Dace" these are his friends in class or so he tells me they are his friends, he may just steal their toys and run away?? "I take nap", which I usually wouldn't believe this part, but it was confirmed on his note for the day, Yea for E and the teachers! So hopefully we can keep everyone healthy and keep getting these sweet play by plays about school.

Peyton had a very important day today. He said "mom today is very important you need to wish me luck" I said I will pray for you what is going on. "I am testing to move up to yellow dot in reading", this is a very big deal to him with his competitive nature. He has been upset that his buddy Tatum is already on yellow and he isn't. So today he tested and drum roll please............he passed and moved up to yellow! Praise Jesus because he would have been so down on himself if he didn't get to move up. He has been working so hard for this by reading and testing 3 times a day at school.

Not to leave anyone out, Braxton informed me that he no longer wants to be an architect, this is breaking my heart, he wants to be a scientist and make experiments! At least he is still ambitious, I was afraid of what he was going to say. Of course Braxton and Peyton both think that they will be drafted into the NFL straight out of college, so this scientist thing is just something to fall back on in case of an injury. Who am I to kill their dreams? I wanted to be an actress and let me just say my life is filled with drama daily!

I LOVE a good deal!

These are hardback picture books from Shutterfly.

I take the highlights from our year and make about 20 pages to sum it all up.

I try to write a little something on each page to tell what the pictures are about.

The best part is that these books retail on Shutterfly for $29.99 + tax and shipping. And I got each of these for only the cost of tax and shipping: $9.58!!! I keep all my pictures saved on my computer so it only takes about 20-30 minutes to make them and they are great quality books. I am just on Shutterfly's email list and they send me a coupon code for a free book once a year, it is so worth it to get all their other junk mail!

Yummy........

Okay so I made my own version of pioneer woman's enchiladas and oh my were they good. I also found a recipe for Mexican rice and changed it up too. My husband was pleased tonight with my creation. Bless his heart there have been many a meals served up with my experimentation and they were horrible, but this one was by far the best! I wish I could share the recipe, but it was totally add and taste I will just have to have you over and make it for you sometime! I am stuffed!

I also want to brag on little Easton. After a week of holding the child down to give him his breathing treatments he has accepted it as part of our routine and has just decided to do it himself! Yea for both of us!

Cooking up something good!

I have been trapped at home with Easton and I have been looking through my new cookbook, thank you Mrs. Walker, I love it! Tonight on the menu is Enchiladas, rice and beans. I am already hungry! I also made a new dessert over the holidays and it is to die for, but totally loaded with calories, so if you are on a New Year's diet don't read any further:

OOEY - GOOEY BUTTER BARS

1 yellow cake mix
1 stick butter, melted
2 eggs
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
2 eggs
1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar

Grease and flour 9 x 13 inch pan. Mix cake mix, butter and 2 eggs well and spread as the bottom layer. Beat cream cheese, 2 eggs and powdered sugar well and spread on top. Bake at 350 degrees 20 to 25 minutes.

Easton is finally feeling better and sleeping better, big PRAISE GOD! Today is his first fever free day since Thursday. Still coughing, but I think that will linger for most of the winter. How is the rest of the outside world? Maybe I can talk my sweet Mother-in-law into watching Easton tomorrow so I can get out and go to the North Main PTO meeting, I will take any outing I can get! I am also dreaming about the beach right now, summer can't come soon enough for me!
